Our Company

VAN HERP & FRUMENTO (P&I SERVICES) LTDA., formerly named William van Herp & Frumento Filho, Associados Ltda., was established in Paranaguá in January 1988, by the initiative of William Frank van Herp and Joao Helio Frumento. The aim of the set up focalised particularly a specialised service in the field of P&I correspondence, including marine advisory and legal consultancy; covering the ports of Paranaguá, São Francisco do Sul, Itajaí and Imbituba. 

 

On October 1999 the partner William Frank van Herp passed away prematurely, and the structure of the company was re-organised and the current partners of the company are Joao Helio Frumento and Abilio Abreu. 

 

Joao Helio Frumento a Master Mariner, holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Maritime Studies, having served 5 years at sea as Navigating and Deck Officer on General Cargo and Bulk-Carrier vessels; handles all types of P&I casualties, mainly involving nautical aspects, stowage of cargoes, collision, salvage, and agri-bulk cargoes.

 

Abilio Abreu has a degree in law and joined the company on 2000. He handles the matters involving containerised cargo, Customs Regulation and Health Authority Fines, and is responsible for dealing with all matters relating to personal injuries, stowaways and immigration problems.

The company is a founding member of SAPIC – South American P&I Correspondents [www.sapic.org], which is an informal and nonprofit association of South American correspondents for P&I Clubs; established to promote unity amongst the long established correspondents of the region for the continuation and growth of the business of its Members.
